Student route essentials: Time limits under the Student immigration route

The aim of this course is to consider when and how time limits apply and how they are calculated under the Student route

Objectives:

  • Identify relevant sources concerning time limits in the Student route– Rules and guidance
  • Know when time limits apply, and when they don’t (including courses that are exempt)
  • Know what time is included in time limits
  • Know how to calculate time that counts towards time limits
  • Consider options for those who have gone beyond the time limits and when the Home Office may exercise discretion

This will be a 2.5 hour online participative session aimed at delegates who have some basic knowledge of the Student immigration route and want to further understand the Rules and guidance relating to the time limits within the route. The session will also consider the application of these Rules and guidance in case studies.

We will not have time to discuss areas of immigration law other than the time limits for Student route applicants. This means we will not be considering other Student route requirements or different immigration routes, such as Child Student, Short-term student and Visitors. These areas are covered in detail in other UKCISA courses.
