Big change allows use of expired BRPs to enter UK after 31 December 2024

December 05, 2024

The Government has issued an update relating to the rollout of eVisas, in a ministerial statement on 4 December. This follows concerns that many visa holders are unable to fully set-up a UKVI account and access their eVisa.

The Government has confirmed that carriers (for example, airlines) will be able to continue to accept biometric residence permits, or EU Settlement Scheme biometric residence cards, that expire on 31 December 2024 as valid evidence of permission to travel after that date. This will continue until at least 31 March 2025.
