Visa processing delays
We are aware that there are delays at some visa application centres across the world at the moment. If you are planning to study in the UK for the upcoming academic year, we would like to reiterate that you should apply for your Student visa as soon as you are able to. This is to avoid as much of these delays as possible.
Travelling to the UK
If you have already applied for your Student visa, you must wait until you have received that visa before travelling to the UK.
If you require a Student visa for your course of study in the UK and you have not yet applied for it, we advise you not to travel to the UK as a visitor in order to start your studies.
You cannot switch from Visitor leave to the Student route within the UK, so it is important that you obtain your Student visa first (where required).
We understand that delays in your Student visa processing can be distressing, however attempting to travel to the UK as a Visitor is unfortunately likely to further complicate the situation. If you think you may be delayed in arriving to the UK, or if you have any concerns about how your visa processing may affect your course start date, please contact your education provider.
We provide further guidance on our website about this on our Applying for a Student Route visa outside of the UK webpage.
