In association with BUILA and Independent Higher Education (IHE), UKCISA have put together a toolkit providing comprehensive information for members on how to engage effectively with local MPs on matters of international higher education ahead of the upcoming UK general election.
The toolkit is available in several versions, one for each nation, and provides guidance on meeting with MPs and electoral candidates in person and at institutions, offers advice on how to reach out to organise meetings, and provides examples of key messages and supporting evidence that can be beneficial for discussions.
You can download the toolkits from our resource bank:
The guidance within these toolkits is provided with the aim of achieving the following key objectives:
- To educate MPs about the benefits of international students.
- To improve sentiment and understanding towards international students by addressing misconceptions.
- To secure support from local MPs to advocate for international students at the national level to input to future policy development.
To ensure that local work feeds into the wider national activities of UKCISA, BUILA and IHE, we would be grateful if you could please let us know of any MP engagement by emailing buila@publicaffairsco.com.
