UKCISA Training and FE International Network event

The UKCISA/AoC FE International Network meets yearly as a forum for staff involved in international activity in the college sector to meet and discuss issues of common interest. Events include presentations from relevant bodies such as the British Council, and practitioner-led discussions based on institutional case studies.

This year we have combined a morning training from UKCISA followed by the FE Network.  This will take place on Tuesday 13th October in London. The day will cost £75 per delegate and will follow the following schedule.


Morning – training on recent changes to the immigration rules impacting FE

  • The removal of Tier 4 (General) work rights
  • The removal of Tier 4 (Child) sponsorship and how legacy sponsorship operates
  • Changes to how to calculate the 3-year limit
  • The new definition of academic progress

and the 12 November changes:

  • The reduction of the 3-year limit to 2 years
  • Who can make Tier 4 (General) applications in the UK
  • Maintenance changes, particularly the abolition of ‘established presence’

Afternoon: Open Forum

  • Update from Aoc International Director, John Mountford, on AoC's survey on the impact of the visa regulation changes. This will be followed by members' discussion.
