Student update: changes to the Immigration Rules (17 July 2023)

 

On 17 July 2023, the UK Government published a statement with details of all the changes they are making to the Immigration Rules. This statement is called a Statement of Changes to the Immigration Rules HC 1496. 

Some of the changes impact the ability of those on the Student route to ‘switch’ into a number of different work routes (including the Skilled Worker route). The changes to the ‘switching’ rules became law from 15:00 (UK time) on 17 July 2023. The provisions concerning the Graduate route however remain unchanged.

As the changes announced are extensive, we will be doing a thorough analysis of the changes that are most relevant to students and will provide you with further details of those changes shortly.
