All four universities explored how to integrate the principles of the #WeAreInternational Student Charter with support of small grants from the #WeAreInternational Grants scheme, managed by UKCISA. A student-led document, the #WeAreInternational Student Charter provides guidance on the fundamental principles for delivering a world-class international student experience, from pre-arrival to post-graduation.

We’ll be joined by:

  • Dr Filippo Nereo, Curriculum Design at the Global Banking School and Dr Alison Long, Senior Lecturer in Languages from Keele University, who were highly commended for their research ‘Supporting international students fleeing humanitarian crises: untangling the experiences of students from Ukraine and Syria’.
  • Aneeza Pervez, Teaching Associate from the University of Nottingham also explored opportunities and challenges to international students’ sense of belonging and inclusion in the UK and will be sharing her insights.
  • Simeon Smith, Employability Specialist and Lucy Norman-Lewis, Careers Consultant from Swansea University, and Emily Sandwell, International Careers Consultant in the Careers Service at the University of Stirling both aimed to support their students and employers find opportunities to work together. They’ll be sharing how they made this happen and what impact it had on international student employment.

For more information on the projects, executive summaries, in-depth reports and resources to replicate their work, as well as information about the grants scheme in general visit our grants page here.
