Tier 4 Credibility Interviews: UKCISA survey report

Date:Mar 2013
Topic(s): Immigration
Type(s): Surveys and reports
In July 2012, the Home Office introduced new powers for Tier 4 students to be refused on grounds of "credibility" following an interview. Following the announcement that these would be rolled out to a much greater number of students from April 2013, this report provides feedback from the sector on how the first nine months of credibility interviewing have gone. It raises concerns about the introduction of subjective decision making into the previously objective Points Based System, and the fairness and consistency of the decision-making process.
