If you have recently received immigration permission, it is possible you will have been issued with a digital immigration permission, known as an eVisa, instead of any physical document. Our webpage on eVisas: UKCISA - international student advice and guidance - eVisas gives more information about the UK government’s move away from issuing physical immigration status and what that means for you.
As the UK moves towards giving all migrants digital immigration permission, it is more important than ever to keep all correspondence you receive relating to your immigration application. This is so that you will be able to cross-check your digital immigration permission (your eVisa) with all the other information you have about the decision that was made in your case.
It is important that you regularly check for, and keep permanently, all emails or other correspondence from UKVI or the Home Office (if possible keep a printed copy as well as a saved copy). You should also regularly check your ‘junk’ folder to see if emails from UKVI or the Home Office have gone there. Making regular checks of your inbox and ‘junk’ folder is especially important while you are waiting for a decision from UKVI and the Home Office about your immigration application and soon after any application has been decided.
